Kaido

Public information:

Of all the forces currently vying for control of the material realm, Kaido is by far the most mysterious. The Olivaarn has only been an active guild for 20 years at this point, but it has already risen to be in the top 3 guilds in the entire realm. And still, almost nothing is known about its leader.

Kaido appears as a Rakshasa, a race of tiger people known for their physical and magical strength. Rakshasa are not typically native to the Material plane, instead hailing from the 9 hells. Although Kaido has done many interviews as part of his most recent endeavour to become president of Shasuk, whenever questions are made into his past, he gives either generic answers, or dodges the question entirely.

“Well, I was blessed enough to grow up with a comfortable level of wealth, though many others are…”

“It’s funny you mention home country, because like any good president, I consider Shasuk to be my true home, and anyone…”

Delving further into his political campaign, Kaido is an extremist, though it’s unclear on what side of the political spectrum he lies. Perhaps that’s on purpose. He promises radical changes, but those changes don’t seem to line up with a single party. Here are some of Kaido’s public beliefs:

  • He strongly believes that Shasuk requires greater military strength, as due to their diversity, they could be a target of any country that makes ANY race a scapegoat.
He acknowledges many flaws with capitalism, and hopes to alter the economy of Shasuk to be somewhat of a combination between Socialism and Capitalism.

He believes that the more successful of two products should solely come down to quality. Perhaps a faux-communist system where prices are capped relative to the average rating of the product. So a 2 star loaf of bread could be sold for 4 copper maximum, but a 5 star loaf of bread could be sold for 2 silver maximum. That way, improving quality is just as important as improving quantity. The scaling should be exponential to a certain extent, as the difference between 4.5 star average and 5 star average is massive, and the price difference should reflect that.

Unfortunately, this is a stupid plan for the capital specifically, as a majority of their income is from peddling cheap, poor quality crap as “authentic cultural items”. Kaido is very inteligent in many ways – strategic inteligence being one of his largest strengths – but he is not an economic genius.

  • He believes in military conscription as an alternative punishment for criminals.
  • He believes that the punishments for more “white collar” [obviously not the in-universe term used] being fines is ridiculous, as they’d affect those committing them the least. He believes that crimes like fraud, reckless endangerment or liability (selling a dangerous product like untested potions) should be jail time, as it’s the only way to prevent them from happening.
  • He believes in hiring based on race for certain jobs, as some races are more skilled at certain tasks, and at the end of the day people are going to hire who they want anyway, being upfront about it just saves time.

As you can see, he has fairly extreme opinions, but these extreme opinions fall on both sides of the political compass. This is ironically the exact opposite approach of his political rival, Archibald. Archibald is a slightly right-leaning centrist, whose main talking point is how he wants their country to stay the same. Archibald alienates no-one, while appealing to no-one. Kaido Alienates masses of people, by appealing to masses of people.

Kaido campaigns with powerful speeches, meant to spur the fire in people’s hearts, igniting their passion for their country and change. Archibald is the opposite, speaking quietly and reservedly.

“He is like a stencil of a politician” – Kaido, in regards to Archibald.

Less public knowledge:

This knowledge is known only to those who have reached the rank of Agent in The Olivaarn.

It is clear that Kaido cares not for the guild aspect of The Olivaarn. It is either just a front, or it has outlived its usefulness in putting Kaido in a position of power.

What Kadio really values is still unknown to most, but his goal is known; World Domination. Becoming president is just one of many steps to his plan. He has been putting pieces in place for the last 20 years, if not longer. He wants to grow his empire (not just Shasuk) to be powerful enough to earn a seat at the coalition of nations (currently only the most powerful nations are granted this honour, such as Slagforgt or Greater Prilentin. The weakest nation granted a seat is Godak. Some powerful countries NOT granted seats are Tu’Narath and Kapaland).

He hopes to gain this power through battle, alliances, betrayals, blackmails and control. One tactic he plans on implementing soon is distracting Greater Prilentin in a war with Godak [The elvish and goblin-kin populations have hated each other for centuries, so they’re the perfect scapegoats]. Prilentin is no stranger to meddling with the growth of up and coming nations, and this will help to prevent any interference. He has already started this plan, by conducting multiple bombing (some on schools) in ways that implicate Godak.

It is also known to agents or higher that Kaido has mind-reading capabilities, and very strong capabilities at that. To become an agent, one must get a “tattoo” of the Olivaarn crest on their neck. However, some agents soon realise this is no tattoo, but instead a brain parasite that allows kaido to read their thoughts without a save anywhere in the realm [NOTE: Mira did not recieve this parasite, as she refused to go along with the ritual, managed to resist Kaido’s mind control once, and Kaido gave up figuring that it likely wouldn’t work on her anyway given her immunity to his psychic prying.]

Lastly, agents or higher know at least one thing Kaido truly believes in; trust. He gives every new agent the same speech about trust, and how many issues of the modern world are caused solely by a lack of trust, and how perfect a society would be where trust was guaranteed.

The Truth:

Nobody knows most of the following information. Kaido’s full plan is known to his top ranked agents, but his past is known to no one but him and the gods.

“Kaido” is a facade, a disguise she’s donned for the last 500 years. In truth, Kaido is Tiamat, the Dragon Queen and evil incarnate. To learn more about what happened to Tiamat prior to 813AD, click here.

Since being weakened and almost killed at the battle of Prilentin, Tiamat took the form of a Rakshaka and hid away in the capital, taking time to recover some of her strength. Her wounds were so severe that this would lead to another centuries long slumber. They took this slumber inside a crypt, a place where they knew they would not be disturbed. This slumber would be her longest to date however, as she would sleep for over 500 years, only rising in 1239 AD. Though she had healed enough to no longer be on the brink of death, she was weakened beyond belief.

By no metric could she be called a god anymore. Like most gods, Tiamat can regenerate, and should’ve been able to regrow the lost heads, and fix her wing (though it would take a LONG time). However, she was unable to. Whenever she tried to focus her magic to regenerate her heads, her mind would be flooded with visions of that battle, of the first time she had felt a true, mortal fear for her own life. This psychic block prevented her from regrowing her heads. She was barely able to heal the hole in her wing, though it was still very weak, and would tear again if she flew too fast, so her flying speed was brought greatly down.

Other than the loss of her heads, possibly the greatest loss in her power was her loss of magical ability. Even at full strength, her body could only handle her full magical strength if she took century long naps to recover. But her broken, weakened body could not handle her full magical power for even a day, unless she wanted to sleep for 20 years per hour she spent going all out. So, Tiamat suppressed her magic, limiting it to a mere fraction of a percentage of what it was before.

It was pathetic. Tiamat was sickened by herself, being reduced to this level. Even when she polymorphed, the scars around her neck and on her back would remain – still burning with just as much pain as in the battle. Tiamat needed revenge. When she could make Odin scream magnitudes louder than she had ever screamed, and then actually finish him off, surely that would quell this fear inside her mind that prevented her from healing. She didn’t just want revenge. If she ever wanted to return to the level of godhood she once held, she NEEDED revenge. Conveniently, by suppressing her magic, she had built somewhat of a stockpile. This stockpile was enough so that if/when she did slay Odin and clear her mental block, she wouldn’t need to spend years regenerating, she could return to full strength in an hour.

And so THAT is Tiamat’s true plan. Grow her empire powerful enough to be granted/demand an audience with the Yorkeluns, during which they will either kill Odin there, or if there’s no safe opportunity, follow him out of the meeting and kill him in the mountains. This will allow her to restore her full strength, gather her chromatic dragons once again, and wipe out every single Giant from the face of the planet. She would not just kill giants, as Tiamat plans on enacting a second Night of Black Clouds, wiping out half of all humanoids and ensuring that she and her army stand unopposed to rule the world.
