Skyrana

This page contains general information about Skyrana as a whole, not any specific locations.

Present Skyrana:

Populated by Aarakokra, Gizerai, elementals and the occasional Gin, this country takes place over a bottomless void, where the fabric of reality and gravity have been pierced. If one were to fall into the void of Skyrana, gravity would get weaker and weaker until eventually, when falling bellow sea level, it stops applying entirely.

It is thought that a great battle between the dragons and giants took place here during the great war, and the shere amount of destructive energy released is what caused the place to look the way it does today. This is backed up by its proximity to both the giants’ and dragons’ native lands, and its proximity to Prilentin, a location of another great battle during the great war. No research has been done to prove this theory, or any theory, as the Yorkeluns have banned any research into skyrana, hoping that people don’t discover evidence of the Nomai’s existance.

As it stands, Skyrana is comprised of floating islands and chunks of debris, floating miles over the void, each supported by a padding of clouds. Most inhabitants fly from island to island, but the Gizerai make use of their psychic powers, honed in the realm of pandemonium, to rework the debris of the material plane and form temporary bridges between islands. It is practically impossible to navigate skyrana without the help of a gizerai, or the ability to fly. (and that flight can’t be tied to a maximum height above the ground like some spells, or it will simply fail as “ground” no longer exists.)

Old Skyrana:

Originally, this country was known as Fibrosia, and was home to a race of highly intelligent creatures known as the Nomai (detailed more in their own page(s)). they had 3 eyes and 4 fingers. They resembled goats, with long curled horns, white fur and heads that hung low on their shoulders. The Nomai were incredibly advanced, with their technology far transending anything available today. They became so advanced thanks to the help of Bahamut, the platinum dragon, queen of the metalic dragons and godess of empathy. Bahamut also became queen of the nomai, when she fell in love with the king of the nomai and had a child with him.

When Tiamat found out about Bahamut and the rest of the metalic dragons’ betrayal, she was furious. Not just because of the betrayal, but because Tiamat once loved Bahamut, and hoped to rule the world together. And so when they saw that Bahamut had fallen for a mere mortal, and dirtied their godly blood with that of the weakest humanoids in the realm, it made Tiamat sick with rage and envy. And so, in the Night of Black Clouds Tiamat ordered every chromatic dragon to start their attack on Fibrosia, wiping out every creature in its borders. The destructive force of 10’s of thousands of dragons – of which Tiamat is said to have contributed half – all focused on a single location was enough energy to not just tear it from the face of the realm, but shatter the very force of gravity that bound the debris, allowing them to float freely into the sky, like a permanent freeze frame of the moment of impact.

Thankfully Bahamut, Mira and Damian all managed to escape in some way or another. unfortunately, the king went down with every other citizen of Fibrosia.
